Two-time World Champion decided to sign with AEW instead of WWE.
One of the well-known wrestlers outside WWE is Josh Alexander, whose name became prominent for his run in TNA from 2019 to 2025. Aside from that, he wrestled in various independent promotions, among them being in New Japan Pro-Wrestling from 2021 to 2023.
In the former IMPACT Wrestling, he won the World Championship twice. After six years in the company, he departed. Many thought the former champion was going to be en route to the WWE following this, but instead chose All Elite Wrestling.
As it turns out, the reason for his decision was more complex than what some may think.
Josh Alexander Didn’t Choose AEW Over WWE For The Money Or Schedule
While talking on Undisputed, Josh Alexander shared that if fans believed what is being said online, then they might say he joined All Elite Wrestling as they were the highest bidder. The former TNA World Champion clarified it wasn’t about the money or schedule, but the pool of talent he wanted to work with, hence why he joined All Elite.
If you believe what you read online, I just went with the highest bidder,” said Alexander with a laugh. “The truth is that the money, schedule, and things like that didn’t play into my decision as much as looking at the pool of talent I wanted to work with. There’s a specific reason I signed where I did. I chose AEW because I want to be here.”
Since joining the company in April, he became a wildcard participant in the Owen Hart Cup, where he faced ‘Hangman‘ Adam Page in a losing effort, joined the Don Callis Family, had a chance for the TNT Championship, and even the Casino Gauntlet match. After signing with AEW, he still wrestles at Maple Leaf Pro-Wrestling and even Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre.
