2022 has seen a handful of transcendent feuds within WWE, but one of the more favoured collisions has been that between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. Originally surrounding the WWE Championship, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ and ‘The All Mighty’ are currently 1-1 in singles action, with Lashley winning at the Royal Rumble and Lesnar at Crown Jewel.
Moving forward in the rivalry, though, it appears there may be an official change of character alignment. Per Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan appears to see Brock Lesnar working as a fully-fledged babyface, whereas Bobby Lashley will revert to being a heel:
”They pushed it that Lesnar got his a** kicked and it was a lucky win. Lashley put the Hurt Lock on him after the match as well, so this should continue with Lashley as a heel.”
Recent reports have stated that WWE had planned on holding their rubber match at the 2023 Day 1 premium live event, though this is believed to have been cancelled. It’s now unknown when, exactly, they’ll next collide.
Jim Cornette Doesn’t Believe In Brock Lesnar’s Style Of Wrestling
Discussing Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley’s latest collision at the Crown Jewel premium live event, Jim Cornette stated via his Jim Cornette Experience podcast that ‘The Beast Incarnate’s’ current style of wrestling no longer works. Lesnar has been renowned for his explosive style of matches, typically executing a barrage of signature offence from the get-go.
As Cornette stated, this will no longer work moving forward if every match of Lesnar’s follows a similar formula:
“So they [WWE] start out with Brock and Lashley. My God, what are we doing? And Lashley jumpstarts it because he’s the offended party from last time as I recall, and he hurts Brock’s leg to give Brock something to sell and it’s an all big move match. They’re just gonna, this is kind of like the [Paul] Heyman blueprint that he’s putting on these guys. 2 Spears and then a Spear through a barricade and another Spear, and then Brock comes back with a German and another German and another German and an F5 for a two count.
Nobody’s gonna grab a headlock, there’s gonna be no hip toss [or] arm drag. But with these guys, there shouldn’t be. Unfortunately, I think the bad thing is because this kind of match works, they’re overdoing it to the point where it’s eventually not going to work as well. It may be already there where it doesn’t work as well as it once did. But anyway, so again, you know, Bobby does his post thing where he runs the post while he’s over his shoulders. Goes for a Spear, Brock foils it, Bobby hits a Spinebuster, gets the Hurt Lock.”
As of this writing, it appears that Brock Lesnar’s next in-ring appearance will come at the Royal Rumble on January 28.
