WWE Needs To Bring Back Forgotten Rule After Dominik Mysterio’s Injury, Veteran Believes

WWE Star Dominik Mysterio is currently out with an injury

A wrestling legend recently shared his take on WWE needing to bring back a forgotten rule after Dominik Mysterio got injured.

Dominik Mysterio is the current Intercontinental Champion and is one of the top young stars in WWE at the moment. On the latest episode of RAW, it was revealed that Mysterio’s match against AJ Styles at Night of Champions was cancelled as Mysterio was apparently nursing an injury. While many thought it was a storyline injury and that The Judgment Day member was just chickening out from a title defense, reports later confirmed that the star had indeed injured his ribs. Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter thinks a forgotten rule should return in case of injuries and titles not being defended.

Bill Apter thinks WWE needs to bring back this major rule

While speaking on the Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Bill Apter opined that Dominik Mysterio would be out for a while and that WWE should bring back the age-old rule where a title can be stripped from a star if they don’t defend it for over 30 days. The promotion has not used the rule in a while, and most champions who have not defended their titles in a while get to keep their belts. Another example of this is IYO SKY, who has not defended her WWE Women’s World Title since winning it at WrestleMania 41 in April.

“Well, from what I understand, he’s gonna be out for a while. I’m not quite sure what the injury is yet, but he is injured. You know what I miss. When a champion gets injured, I miss the old ruling, which I wish they’d bring back. If you can’t defend the title within 30 days, you’re stripped of the title. They need to bring that back. There are champions that don’t defend their title for like two PLEs, and they still have the belt. It’s not fair. Change that.” [H/T Sportskeeda]

It remains to be seen when Dominik Mysterio will return to WWE and who his next opponent will be.
