WWE have announced that a special one hour edition of WWE Backstage will air this Friday following WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
The news comes after it was revealed that this week’s edition of the blue brand will be broadcast on FS1 rather than FOX because of the third game in the World Series between Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
WWE’s official statement reads:
“SmackDown moves to FS1 this Friday for one week only at its normal time of 8/7 C due to Game 3 of the 2020 World Series airing on FOX.
Following the action of SmackDown, a special one-hour WWE Backstage will also air on FS1 from the WWE ThunderDome. Then a replay of the earlier edition of the blue brand will re-air at 11/10 C.
Don’t miss all the action of Friday Night SmackDown beginning at 8/7 C on FS1.”
At present, the lineup for WWE Backstage has not been announced, but fans are hoping for the return of Renee Paquette – formerly Renee Young – who hosted the original run of the show and departed WWE earlier this year.
However, hopes of a return were boosted recently when Paquette returned to the company to chair the kickoff show for the season premier of Friday Night SmackDown alongside former WWE Backstage co-host, Booker T.
WWE Backstage made the headlines not long after its debut on FOX when it unveiled CM Punk as its special contributor. This was Punk’s first dealings with anything that sported a WWE logo since his departure from the company following the 2014 Royal Rumble.
Inside the Ropes will have live coverage of Friday Night SmackDown every Friday night.
