WWE Backstage Reaction To Shane McMahon Meeting With AEW President Tony Khan

Many would not be surprised to see Shane McMahon make at least one appearance in AEW.

Following on from rumours that McMahon may be interested in becoming All Elite, a photo was leaked online that saw Tony Khan in a meeting with the son of the former WWE owner, only fuelling speculation further that a McMahon in AEW really could happen.

Following the photo being made public, fans have expressed mixed emotions over what could happen with some fantasy booking McMahon matches in the company while others will believe it when they see it. As part of a series of updates by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, there has been discussion among the talent regarding the meeting and “Most that we spoke to believe Shane will end up at least making an appearance there.”

Despite the fact that the photo was made public hours before the July 31st episode of Dynamite, McMahon did not make a surprise appearance on the flagship show and has yet to appear on AEW programming at the time of writing.

WWE Officials Not Interested In Shane McMahon Return

McMahon last appeared at WrestleMania 39 as a surprise opponent for The Miz before tearing his quad just moments into their impromptu match, forcing co-host Snoop Dogg to improvise a finish. Despite the appearance occurring just over a year ago, the landscape of the company has vastly changed since with new owners and no members of the McMahon family in an executive position. With many theories circulating as to why McMahon met with Khan, it has been speculated that McMahon took part in the meeting to create leverage for a WWE return. However, according to a new report, the company are not interested in bringing back Shane McMahon.

Stephanie McMahon was also spotted in the audience at SummerSlam, with Triple H addressing her status in the post-show press conference.
