WWE Preparing For Huge Backlash Over Planned WrestleMania 42 Announcement

The Rock's WWE WrestleMania 42 Announcement

WWE is expecting negative reactions over the imminent WrestleMania 42 announcement.

The Rock returned to SmackDown in February this year and announced that WrestleMania 42 will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. However, it was later reported that the location changed, and the city would host the 2026 Money in the Bank instead. There have been talks that The Show of Shows might return to Las Vegas instead, and recent reports are pointing to that being the case.

According to JoeyVotes and TC in an episode of WrestleVotes Radio on WrestleBinge, WWE is carefully rolling out the announcement that WrestleMania will be held in Las Vegas for the second year in a row, and they are aware of the backlash for the change of location.

The report also stated that TKO is allegedly hoping for a repeat of how the weekend played out in 2025, with the same venues and events. It was also shared that the announcement isn’t official as the venues aren’t “locked down” yet, but the confirmation is expected imminently.

WrestleVotes added that one of the challenges for the delay in announcement is due to WWE trying to book the Las Vegas Convention Center, as they want to repeat the same event setup. It was also alleged that TKO wasn’t fully on board with using the space at Mandalay Bay.

WWE Reportedly Wants To Hold WrestleMania In Las Vegas Regularly

In a previous report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shared that the decision to return to the city was due to the financial success of this year’s show, which New Orleans apparently cannot top. It was also said that key TKO executives growing up in Sin City, including Nick Khan, also played a role.

The report added that WWE WrestleMania is planned to be held in Las Vegas frequently, as the city wants to “have a major destination sports event every year,” adding that they want the wrestling event to be hosted there when the Super Bowl, The Final Four, and even the College Football national championship final won’t be hosted there.
