With Vince McMahon now out of the picture, it’s reported that Sasha Banks and Naomi may be on their way back to WWE!
The shock retirement of the ex-Chairman last week opened up many possibilities that would never have been possible with the McMahon matriarch in charge. The return of Sasha Banks and Naomi to the company, for example, is a genuine possibility.
Per the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer on the Sports Illustrated Media podcast, there will be attempts from company officials to get back on good terms with the former Women’s Tag Team Champions. The working plan is to ultimately get them back in the company:
“It’s kind of up in the air. I mean, they’re gone. The last I heard was that there would be attempts to be made to reconcile, especially with Vince gone. So, it’s up in the air. I don’t think there’s anything definite just yet.”
Sasha Banks and Naomi haven’t been seen since they walked out of the company. They’ve since been effectively blacklisted from the company, stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Championships and criticised on commentary by Michael Cole and Corey Graves.
Various reports have surrounded the duo since the infamous 16 May date, including news that they’ve both been removed from the internal roster and that Sasha Banks’ lawyers are reportedly involved to help her achieve an early release from her current deal. As it stands, neither former SmackDown Women’s Champion has appeared on WWE programming.
Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque is now in charge of both talent relations and creative within WWE, which could perhaps work in the company’s favour with regards to bringing back the tag team.
