WWE have announced that WrestleMania Backlash will be heading your way on Sunday May 16th.
The show will be available on Peacock and the WWE Network.
The confirmation comes after it was initially reported prior to WrestleMania that the dates for Backlash and Money In The Bank had been finalised.
Previously known, simply as WWE Backlash, the show held its place as the company’s post-WrestleMania pay-per-view from 1999 until 2009. The show was then put on hiatus before returning in 2016.
Due to it’s high-profile place on the calendar, WWE Backlash has seen a whole raft of memorable moments. The year 2000 edition of the show saw the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin following a serious neck injury, while 2002 saw Hulk Hogan win his first WWE World Title in nearly a decade.
The 2003 event was notable for the WWE in-ring debut of Goldberg who defeated The Rock, with the legendary Hardcore Match between Mick Foley as Cactus Jack against Randy Orton following a year later.
At Backlash 2020, which was held in June, Randy Orton defeated Edge in a match billed as ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever,’ and Drew McIntyre defeated Bobby Lashley to retain the WWE Championship.
