WWE Announces Upcoming Night Of Champions PLE

WWE Night of Champions

WWE has announced a Premier Live Event will return on May 27th.

The announcement came via their official Twitter account revealing Night of Champions will return for the first time since 2015.

The post said the show will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and replace the previously announced King and Queen of the Ring. The company confirmed the return of the King and Queen of the Ring on March 7th but no further details were provided.

2021’s Crown Jewel, saw the New Day’s Xavier Woods crowned the King of the Ring and Zelina Vega win the first-ever Queen’s Crown tournament, which meant the return of the much-loved event taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was a fitting collaboration.

However, the recent announcement now means another favoured event is back for the Saudi supershow.

The May 27th Premium Live Event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will now be WWE Night of Champions!

WWE Night of Champions Returns

In 2008, the company ran its first version of the PPV – an event, which features all active championships on the main roster to be defended. Originally named Vengeance: Night of Champions the company dropped Vengeance the title the following year.

The event became an annual occurrence until 2015. The last event saw Seth Rollins defeat Sting for the World Heavyweight Championship and Charlotte Flair end Nikki Bella’s longest reigning Divas Champion run.

After 2015, the event was then rebranded as Clash of Champions, which was its original name under NWA/WCW. This version of the PPV ran for four events, with the last one taking place in 2020.

This will be the first version of the event to stream live on Peacock and the first to take in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The last time the company were in the country was for Crown Jewel in 2022, which saw Roman Reigns successfully retain his Undisputed Universal Championship against Logan Paul.

The latest announcement means WWE’s 2023 PLE schedule is as follows:

  • Night of Champions at Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Mecca Province, Saudi Arabia – May 27th
