WWE Announces New Class Of NXT Recruits

By Gary Cassidy. Published 7th October 2020.
WWE New Recruits

WWE have confirmed their latest class of NXT recruits to the WWE Performance Center. The group consists of several EVOLVE standouts, as well as an amateur wrestling star and a referee – several of which have appeared on WWE television already.

The stars signed are Brandi Lauren, Curt Stallion, Anthony Greene, Leon Ruff, Joe Gacy, Josh Briggs, Jacob Kasper and Jake Clemons.

A new class of recruits has reported for training at the @WWEPC! 👀 ⬇️ https://t.co/52ECx3DQrt

  • Brandi Pawelek, known as Brandi Lauren, has wrestled across EVOLVE and SHINE. Brandi also competed against Marina Shafir on RAW Underground and appeared in promotional material alongside Damian Priest when the North American Champion celebrated his title win in a hot tub.
  • Camron Rogers, also known as Curt Stallion, stands at six-foot-one and has wrestled the likes of Matt Riddle, Cameron Grimes and Dexter Lumis in EVOLVE.
  • “Retro” AnthonyGreene is another EVOLVE talent who has signed with WWE. I broke the news of his signing, and of interest in Curt Stallion, via Sportskeeda back in August. In EVOLVE Wrestling, 26-year-old Greene competed against NXT Tag Team Champion Tyler Breeze.
  • Dartanyon Ruffin, better known as Leon Ruff, will most likely be the most familiar talent to the WWE audience. Another former EVOLVE talent, the 24-year-old has competed on Raw, SmackDown, NXT and 205 Live in recent months. Most notably competing against Sheamus and Aleister Black. Fightful broke the news of Ruff’s signing at the end of July.
  • Another former EVOLVE star who has signed is Joseph Ruby, also known as Joe Gacy, who is a former three-time Combat Zone Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.
  • The final wrestler from EVOLVE to sign is Joshua Bruns, AKA Josh Briggs. The six-foot-eight former EVOLVE Champion has faced off against the likes of NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER, Matt Riddle, John Morrison and Raw Tag Team Champion Angelo Dawkins.
  • A two-time NCAA All-American and 2018 ACC heavyweight champion also joins the list of recruits. Jacob Kasper is a 25-year-old amateur wrestling standout who placed in the 2016 Olympic trials.
  • The class is rounded off by referee Jake Clemons, a referee who has officiated matches on Monday Night Raw, and even appeared as Rollins’ disciple on RAW when his referee shirt was ripped off to reveal the Monday Night Messiah’s merchandise.
