This announcement comes after the 16-time World Champion appeared to take aim at current United States Champion Theory on social media earlier today.
John Cena first appeared in the WWE on the June 27th episode of SmackDown, where he answered an open challenge to face Kurt Angle and show some “ruthless aggression” as requested by Vince McMahon on the previous episode of Raw. Though he didn’t manage to defeat the Olympic gold medalist, Cena impressed fans and his WWE coworkers alike in his showing.
The Peacemaker star last appeared on WWE television during the 2021 Summer of Cena, which saw him make a number of television and live event appearances in July and August. John Cena faced Roman Reigns at the 2021 edition of SummerSlam, where he was defeated by the Tribal Chief. After the show went off the air, Cena was the recipient of numerous F5’s at the hands of Brock Lesnar, who appeared at the end of the show to confront Roman Reigns.
Elsewhere on Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes was attacked by Seth Rollins after an emotional promo and seemingly written off television. Full results from the June 6th episode of Raw can be found here.
