Could WWE announcer Corey Graves step back in the ring once again?
Graves retired from in-ring competition in 2014 due to concussion issues and would make the successful transition to commentary. Being a part of the NXT roster when he retired, The Saviour of Misbehaviour never had an official match on the main roster. Graves has briefly been involved in an angle where he briefly won the 24/7 Championship, but quickly lost the title to Byron Saxton.
The Pittsburgh native was recently interviewed by Steelers Takeaways. When asked about his transition from wrestling to announcing, Graves confirmed that he is medically cleared and has been for a number of years. However, in terms of a return match it would be a more sporadic agreement as opposed to a full-time run:
“The transition in a weird way saved me from what could have been. Instead of grieving over the loss of my dream as an in-ring performer, it gave me something new to focus my energy on while staying in the business. I found a new mountain to climb. In hindsight it really helped me deal with that loss. I have a clean bill of health now, thanks. I actually got medically cleared a couple of years ago to perform in the ring again. I flirted with the idea and am waiting for a potential opportunity if it presents itself. More of a one-time ting like McAfee has done – not as a full-time in-ring performer,”
Graves recently returned to the announce desk after going on paternity leave as his wife Carmella gave birth to their first child together.
