An eventful SmackDown saw challenges declared for WWE Championships and four more Superstars added to Money In The Bank Ladder Matches.

Butch and Santos Escobar were both victorious and earned their place to be part of the Men’s Ladder Match on July 1st, whilst Damage CTRL dominated the Women’s side of the draw to add their presence to the London-based event.

Charlotte Flair shocked fans by making a surprise comeback and issued a challenge to Auska after the Raw Women’s Champion was handed a newly designed Gold Championship by Adam Pierce.

Pierce had a very busy night and has set up two huge Tag Team Matches. Next week several teams will take part in a gauntlet match to declare a new number-one contender for the Men’s Tag Team Championships.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Unification Match Announced

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have made known their intentions to dominate the WWE’s tag division.

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn were introduced to the SmackDown crowd for an in-ring interview but were soon interrupted by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.

Baszler teased that the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships only existed because of her.

In March 2021, Baszler and Nia Jax defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Raquel Rodriguez and Dakota Kai.

The pair won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to earn a shot at the Championships but a mix-up by officials led to Kai tapping out to Baszler, but the following week on March 10th, William Regal declared that Kai and Rodriguez would become the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Baszler and Rousey challenged Dawn and Fyre to a match to crown WWE’s one true Women’s Tag Team Champions, an offer that was gladly accepted by SmackDown’s newest recruits.

WWE has announced that the Women’s Tag Team Championship unification match will take place on SmackDown on Friday 23rd June.

Damage CTRL Put WWE Champions On Notice

Damage CTRL are eyeing a WWE Championship opportunity after both Bayley and Iyo Sky secured their places to compete in three weeks’ time at Money In The Bank.

Bayley helped Iyo Sky qualify after pushing her opponent Shotzi off the top turnbuckle. Earlier in the night the former Hugger claimed a win over Michin to book her place in the Women’s Ladder Match.

The pair will now join Becky Lynch, Zelina Vega, and Zoey Stark in London to battle it out for a Championship match contract.

At last year’s Money In The Bank, Liv Morgan not only won the Women’s Ladder Match but would go on to cash in later that same night to defeat an injured Ronda Rousey and become Smackdown Women’s Champion.
