WWE and TNA shocked the wrestling world more than one year ago when they began working together. The longest-running mainstream North American wrestling promotions solidified their alliance earlier this year by officially entering into a multi-year partnership. After several unprecedented happenings on-screen and behind-the-scenes, now WWE and TNA are set to make history once again.
Triple H and Carlos Silva reinforced the working relationship between World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling back in January. Since then, WWE’s Chief Content Officer and the TNA President have officially created more talent crossover and brand collaboration opportunities with the highly-touted extension. There have been several historic happenings, including Trick Williams’ May 25 win over Joe Hendry at NXT Battleground to become the new TNA World Champion. This made Williams the first WWE-contracted wrestler to win a TNA title.
NXT and TNA stars are set battle throughout the summer season. Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich is expected to be at The Great American Bash on Saturday as Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe fka Mariah May face Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne in tag team action. This will serve as a preview for Evolution on Sunday, where Jayne will defend her NXT Women’s Championship Grace. The winner will then advance to TNA Slammiversary on July 20 for a big Champion vs. Champion match, which is now being billed as a Winner Takes All contest.
WWE And TNA Putting Titles Up For Grabs In Historic Match At Slammiversary
TNA will present its 21st Slammiversary PPV on Sunday, July 20. The big event will also serve as a celebration for the company’s 23rd anniversary.
Officials previously announced NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne vs. TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich for Slammiversary. The promotions are now billing this as a Winner Takes All match with both titles up for grabs. Slamovich will have to defend against Jordynne Grace if the first-ever TNA Knockouts Triple Crown Champion is able to dethrone Jayne at WWE Evolution on Sunday.
Regardless of Slamovich’s opponent at Slammiversary, one wrestler will leave the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY with the top women’s championships from what are arguably the #1 and #3 wrestling promotions in North America, if not the world. Grace previously held the Knockouts World Championship on three occasions, but she has not won any gold in WWE as of now.
Jayne has never held a TNA title, and Slamovich has never held a WWE championship. The only Masha vs. Jacy singles bout was won by the TNA star on Impact in March, and Evolution will mark the first Jordynne vs. Jacy one-on-one bout. Jordynne beat Masha four times in TNA from 2019-2023, while Masha got the win over Jordynne just once in 2022 at PWG. Slamovich dethroned Grace to begin her current title reign at Bound For Glory 2024, then won the 2 of 3 Falls rematch one month later as Grace finished up to join WWE.
Slammiversary 2025 will also see NXT’s Trick Williams defend the TNA World Championship against Mike Santana and Joe Hendry. It remains to be seen if this or the Winner Takes All match will headline.
