While it hasn’t been officially announced, fans are clamoring for information on the latest video game in the WWE 2K franchise, WWE 2K23.
Though the tweets have now been deleted, a Microsoft store data miner was able to learn that the cross-gen game is set to be released on March 17th for Xbox consoles. It is likely that this will be the same date of release as the standard game edition on Xbox, and that it will also be released on other platforms such as Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and PC at that time.
The data miner was also able to obtain a cover image for the cross-gen edition of the game, which is likely to be the same cover as the standard edition. John Cena appears to have been chosen as the cover star for WWE 2K23. This marks the star’s third time gracing the cover of a WWE 2K game, first appearing as a solo cover star on 2014’s WWE 2K15 and appearing alongside other performers on 2020’s WWE 2K Battlegrounds edition.
Twitter user Banshee posted the cover image along with a confirmation from the data miner that the poster is indeed accurate, but also noted to take such news with a grain of salt until officially announced by WWE 2K.
I asked the media if the leak was legitimate, and got this as a response. ✅
They have legitimately reported information about other games and apps in the past, so it's very interesting indeed. #WWE2K23pic.twitter.com/GzeRumzvxG

Rumored WWE 2K23 Cover Star John Cena Has Yet To Be Confirmed For WrestleMania 39
John Cena returned to in-ring action on the December 30th edition of SmackDown, teaming with Kevin Owens to defeat the pair of Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. His latest WWE appearance has fueled speculation that he will be part of the star-studded WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, CA, though reports on his potential opponent for the event vary.
It has long been believed that Cena is headed for a clash with Austin Theory at some time in the future, and according to a recent report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Theory is indeed the planned WrestleMania opponent for Cena. Rumors of this plan are bolstered by the fact that Cena reportedly filmed a mystery segment with Theory during his December 30th WWE appearance.
However, Cena recently took to Instagram to post a photo of Logan Paul along with his brother Jake, casting doubt on the idea that he’ll be facing Theory as he’s also been rumored to face Logan Paul at the event. In fact, Logan Paul personally pitched to Triple H that the two “break the Internet” by facing each other.
