On July 31st WWE announced that they had come to terms on the release of former Universal Champion Bray Wyatt.

The Fiend’s departure took many fans by surprise, with reports suggesting that the move was put down to budget cuts. It was also noted that Wyatt, who had been absent from WWE since WrestleMania 37 had been preparing to return to television in August.

Following the news, wrestlers from across multiple promotions took to social media to pay tribute to the star. Alexa Bliss, who worked extensively with Wyatt in recent times thanked him for what he did for WWE, calling him an “amazing talent.”

While most saluted their fellow performer, Mickie James praised Wyatt while also being critical of WWE. James took aim at her former employer saying that they didn’t know how to book the star.

In a follow up tweet, James clarified her position, explaining that she wasn’t being negative towards Alexa Bliss, commenting how well she has done in her role in recent months.

During his time in WWE, Bray Wyatt became a two-time Universal Champion as well as lifting the WWE Championship. The demonic cult leader also captured tag team gold on two occasions.

Bray Wyatt originally signed with WWE back in 2009, debuting on the main roster as Husky Harris the following year. However, it wasn’t until a stint in NXT in 2012 that Wyatt emerged as his most famous character.

Inside The Ropes will continue to update the story as it develops.
