A veteran of the pro wrestling business has claimed that CM Punk and other top AEW stars should be fired for the events that transpired following the All Out media scrum.
During the post-All Out media scrum, CM Punk took verbal shots at Colt Cabana, Hangman Adam Page, and the company’s EVPs, The Elite. His words led to a brawl breaking out backstage involving Punk, the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Ace Steel as well as others.
The incident has led to the suspensions of everyone involved, while the AEW World Championship and the AEW Trios Championship were declared vacant.
Legendary manager Dutch Mantell has now joined many other wrestling personalities in giving his thoughts on how the situation should be handled.
During the most recent edition of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the veteran said he thinks Punk and The Elite would all have been fired in a “regular company” but recognises that’s unlikely to be the case in the world of pro wrestling.
“If this were to happen in a regular company they’d all have been fired. They have to be fired.
“But now wrestling is different than a regular company you need these people they have more TV time than anybody else and all of a sudden you’re going to fire them for them not being able to control themselves?”
As an alternative, Dutch Mantell suggested CM Punk and everyone else involved should be hit where it hurts, in their wallets.
“I would go farther than firing them, I mean if I’m going to, not to say fire ’em, but if I’m going to suspend them, I’m going to suspend them and fine them about 20 grand because wrestlers respond to money, that’s the only thing they respond to.”
