Wrestling Veteran Believes Vince McMahon Was ‘Forced’ To Sell WWE

Vince McMahon

A wrestling veteran has shared his thoughts on Vince McMahon’s decision to sell World Wrestling Entertainment.

A few years ago, in 2023, Endeavor acquired a majority 51% stake in WWE and merged it under TKO. While McMahon remained an executive chairman of the board, he had to resign following sexual assault and trafficking assaults emerged about him in January 2024. However, the reports about selling the company emerged in 2022 when McMahon had stepped down as the CEO after reports of misconduct against him emerged.

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo revealed on a recent episode of “BroDown” that the sale of the promotion was the result of pressure exerted by Stephanie McMahon, Paul Levesque (Triple H), and CEO Nick Khan, despite expectations from McMahon and fans that he would retain his position until his demise.

“Everybody believed they were gonna find Vince McMahon dead in his office when he was 90 years old. He was never leaving the WWE. I think what happened is when he tried to come back on the board, and Triple H, Stephanie, and Nick Khan voted against him, that’s when Vince said, ‘You’ll get this company over my dead body when I die.’ And that’s when he made the decision to sell the company.”

Earlier, former commentator Jonathan Coachman had claimed that McMahon had plans to buy back his promotion. While there are no confirmed updates on it, yesterday, on 30th May, Vince McMahon officially launched his brand new company.
