Ultimate Fighting Champion’s President and CEO, Dana White, is targeting budding pro wrestlers for his other venture.
Power Slap is a slap-fighting promotion company owned by White that has been in the news since its inception for being visually barbaric. Despite the criticism, Dana has backed the company and disclosed that it has even been listed in a significant new contract with Paramount and UFC.
As for the show’s roster, White has dialed in on two groups of people: bodybuilders and aspiring pro wrestlers hopeful of signing a WWE or AEW contract. Dana White already has a connection with WWE, as TKO Group Holdings owns the number one pro wrestling promotion and the UFC.
Dana White Urges WWE And AEW Aspirers To Join Power Slap And Make “Loads Of Money”
On the YouTube channel Cutler Cast, Dana White promoted Power Slap, highlighting the earnings aspect of it. The MMA mogul pointed out how pro wrestlers who are starting out do not make a lot of money, but they endure tough tasks at the office, so to speak.
What White’s company needs is “a steady flow of talented guys,” as money is not a problem for the investors.
For instance, there’s a bunch of people out there that wanna get into the AEW or WWE, right? These guys will jump off a f**king ladder onto a table full of tacks for 50 bucks a night. You can come into Power Slap and make a sh** load of money.
These guys are all tough guys, big guys. So, we are looking at these guys that wanted to be professional wrestlers, and a lot of other athletes around the world that didn’t become professional athletes, coming to Power Slap.
There’s real money in this. When you start a business like this, the problem is money, you’ve gotta have money. Money is not a problem for us. The problem for us is finding a steady flow of talented guys that come through. Any big guys out there, if you are a bodybuilder, or you’re trying to be a pro wrestler, any of that sh**, whatever your dream is, you can literally come into this and make some real money,” Dana White said.
Meanwhile, WWE continues to filter its roster, with many unexpected names getting released. More recently, a fan-favorite wrestler parted ways with the sports entertainment capital, despite his growing connection with fans. However, he had a more positive outlook about it.
