A member of the WWE NXT roster has been marked as a major star of the future.
Longtime watchers of the developmental show have seen stars of the brand go on to bigger things on the main roster. Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch are just some of the stars who all started their WWE journeys in NXT and would go on to hold top championships, win the Royal Rumble and compete in the main event of WrestleMania. According to a new source, the next massive star star has been scouted.
As reported by Haus of Wrestling, Trick Williams gained extremely positive reactions from the SmackDown creative team following his recent cameo on the Royal Rumble go-home show to save Carmelo Hayes. Saving his partner from a beatdown from Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, the arena loudly chanted “Whoop That Trick!” to show their support for the rising star.
WWE higher-ups have noticed, with one source describing the North American Champion to Haus of Wrestling as having “future WrestleMania main eventer potential.” Additionally, a top star noted that Williams has “great attitude and skill set that he’s cultivating” and they see “nothing but positives for him.”
The momentum for Hayes and Williams continued on the January 30th episode of NXT as the duo defeated the LWO’s Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde. Hayes and Williams will face Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT Vengeance Day on February 4th.
A follow-up report on February 2nd corroborated Haus of Wrestling’s report. As noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Williams’ stock has been significantly raised following the insane reaction on SmackDown:
The big reaction that Trick Williams got at the Smackdown show in Miami really upped his standing. He’s already considered the hottest act in NXT
When Will Trick Williams Join The WWE Main Roster?
Much like many of the top stars in NXT, fans are demanding that the former North American Champion be called up to Raw or SmackDown sooner rather than later. In a recent interview, Trick Williams responded to the fans’ demands to see him compete on a bigger stage.
