WrestleMania and celebrities go hand in hand, but the relationship could go even further with a star apparently set to wrestle for a title at this year’s event.

The first WrestleMania saw Muhammad Ali take to the ring as an extra official in the night’s main event before ten years later renowned football player Lawrence Taylor took to the ring in the WrestleMania 11 main event against Bam Bam Bigelow. Pete Rose was the first inductee into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall Of Fame as a result of his WrestleMania exploits and three-year feud with Kane.

But now, WWE looks set to go one step further according to a new report with a celebrity poised for a title match on The Grandest Stage Of Them All. The following report contains spoilers for Friday’s edition of SmackDown so if you don’t want to know what happens, now is the time to stop reading.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that it “looks like Johnny Knoxville” will compete once again in a WWE ring at WrestleMania 38 but this time for the Intercontinental Championship.

Knoxville entered WWE via his place in the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble, immediately drawing the ire of Sami Zayn. The two men have remained in a war of words ever since with the Jackass star recently destroying some of Zayn’s merchandise at a WWE pop-up shop in Los Angeles.

On the already taped episode of SmackDown due to air on the 18th of February, Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to begin his third reign as Intercontinental Champion.

Should the rumoured match between Sami Zayn and Johnny Knoxville take place at WrestleMania, it will mark the second year in a row that Zayn’s bout at the event has had celebrity involvement. At WrestleMania 37 Sami Zayn was seconded to the ring by Logan Paul, who ultimately suffered a Stunner from Zayn’s opponent, Kevin Owens.
