While appearing on the latest edition of the Bill Simmons Podcast, Stephanie McMahon has seemingly confirmed that Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair will headline night one of WrestleMania 37.
During a wide-ranging conversation which covered the current state of WWE as well as McMahon’s own career, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer revealed which match was set to headline night one. McMahon went on to add that the match will be spectacular.
“Sasha and Bianca is newer, but they’re gonna be headlining night one of WrestleMania. That’s gonna be pretty special and spectacular. I can’t wait to see their match tomorrow!”
WWE has since confirmed the news, revealing that the SmackDown Women’s Championship match will headline night 1 whilst Bobby Lashley vs Drew McIntyre for the WWE title will open the show!

Stephanie McMahon later went on to praise SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, commenting that she has the “it factor.”
“I’ve always known that Sasha could be right at the top. She just has that ‘it’ factor. She just shines… I’m certainly very excited for Sasha to have this moment. I’ve actually heard fans credit Bayley and Sasha for carrying a lot through the pandemic with their storyline and I think they did. You know, and I’m so grateful to each of them for doing so.”
The move to have Banks and Belair in the headline spot comes after a Twitter campaign which called for the match to main event the extravaganza. The movement was joined by WWE Superstars both past and present as well as fans.
WrestleMania 37 takes place in the Raymond James Stadium on the 10th and 11th of April 2021. It is the second WrestleMania event taking place over an entire weekend. ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’ will be available to watch on Peacock in the US, and elsewhere globally on the WWE Network.
