Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler are set to defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on the May 14th episode of SmackDown against Natalya and Tamina.
The match was announced after Natalya and Tamina beat the champions on the previous week’s SmackDown in a non-title clash.
On the May 7th episode of the blue brand, Tamina went one on one with Reginald. The match ended in a disqualification after Nia Jax saved Reginald from ringside. After the match, Jax and Baszler beat down Tamina and Natalya. Baszler stomped on Tamina’s elbow while Jax hit a devastating Samoan Drop on Natayla on the barricade to leave the challengers laying.
Natalya and Tamina came within touching distance of winning the titles on night two of WrestleMania 37. After earning the Number One Contenders spot during Tag Team Turmoil on night one, the pair pushed the champions to the limit the following night.
The special Throwback Edition of SmackDown also had huge implications for the Universal Championship. Cesaro overcame Seth Rollins to earn a shot at Roman Reigns at WestleMania Backlash.
The latest episode of the blue brand also saw the return of Jimmy Uso. Jimmy hasn’t been seen in action since competing in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 36. The return marked Jimmy Uso’s first appearance on WWE television since Reigns locked him in a Gullotine to force Jey to announce he quit at Hell In A Cell.
SmackDown ended with Cesaro standing tall after beating down Reigns and The Usos. The Swiss Superman had blindsided Reigns as he challenged Jimmy to join him or go home. Cesaro laid out Jimmy with a hard Uppercut before hitting the Neautralizer on Reigns and Jey Uso.
