William Regal Reveals Unexpected Show He Considers The Greatest Night Of His Career

By Sondra Ruth. Published 14th December 2021.
William Regal

William Regal revealed the night he considers to be the greatest of his 38 year career.

The NXT General Manager has had a long and illustrious career, and it may come as some surprise that his favorite night in the wrestling business wasn’t one where he was an active competitor.

In December 2015, just months after its first arena TakeOver in Brooklyn, NXT embarked on its first international tour. The NXT Superstars toured the UK for seven days, and William Regal fondly recalled the night in his home town of Blackpool on December 13th.

6 years ago today @WWENXT did a show at @WGBpl Winter Gardens, Blackpool. It was the greatest night of my 38 year career. The setting, atmosphere, incredible competitors and the indescribably fantastic fans were superb. Thank you all.

The main event of the show saw NXT Champion Finn Balor defeat Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn in a triple threat match. Elsewhere in the night William Regal addressed the crowd and discussed how he got his start in Blackpool while hyping NXT as a growing brand.

Then known as Steve Regal, the NXT General Manager indeed got his start in Blackpool after training under wrestling legend Marty Jones. He traveled the world working for multiple territories in many countries before working with WCW and WWE in the United States.

Regal became the on-screen General Manager of NXT in July of 2014, taking over for JBL. Not only is he an on-screen authority figure, Regal is instrumental behind the scenes in the company and serves as the WWE Director of Talent Development and Global Recruiting.

The NXT General Manager recently called Cesaro and WALTER two of his favorite competitors.
