William Regal has recalled Sasha Banks coming to him “more than once” in search of advice and reassurance.
During his time working in NXT William Regal was integral in launching the WWE careers of a number of Superstars who have gone on to reach the top of the company. Alongside Dusty Rhodes and Triple H, the British veteran is widely credited with helping Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Bayley reach the heights that they have within WWE and beyond.
In fact, Regal himself has previously revealed that he put his job on the line in order to get Banks signed to a WWE contract.
Speaking on a recent episode of his Gentleman Villain podcast, Regal recalled advising Banks on the old wrestling saying that the only things that are real are the money and the miles. The now-AEW star said that The Boss approached him “more than once” on the subject and their conversations usually went the same way.
“‘How many times have you been world champion?’ and she said ‘three’ and I said ‘did you get the check in the bank this Monday?’ and she went ‘yeah, thanks. That’s what I needed to hear.'”
Regal added that many wrestlers including Banks need someone to put things into perspective.
“Put it into perspective because everybody and everything will take you out of the actual reality of what you want and what you’ve got to go through because that’s what life is.”
Applying this logic to his own career, Regal stated that while he was never World Champion his pay was good and arrived on time, and that was all he needed.
Sasha Banks hasn’t been seen in WWE since walking out of the May 16th episode of Monday Night Raw with tag team partner Naomi. While there has been no official comment on their status, Banks recently dropped a major hint that she could be done with the company, changing her Twitter handle to her real name, removing “@SashaBanksWWE.”
