William Regal has explained why he was ringside for a recent AEW bout and not on commentary.
Earlier this month, William Regal accompanied Blackpool Combat Club member Claudio Castagnoli to the ring for a match against Dax Harwood on AEW Rampage as opposed to taking his usual spot on commentary.
On a recent edition of his Gentleman Villan podcast, Regal revealed why he was ringside and not sat at the commentary desk:
“I’m gonna be as honest as an old rogue can be on this podcast, and I have been, I think, for the last whatever my months we’ve been doing this.
Too many people at commentary, I’d have been sat on the front row, if I tried to add another chair to that commentary team. You’ve got Caprice there as well, and then Chris, as well. So you’ve got this, like, you know, we got a bleeding conga line there if you’ve got one more person that, you know, nowhere to go.
I’d have been sat, I’d have been sat across the other side of the stage, you know, that I wouldn’t have been able to see the monitors. That’s why I was there.”
William Regal has returned to his commentary duties during Blackpool Combat Club matches since then. Regal was part of the team calling the action for the AEW World Title contest between BCC members Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley at AEW Grand Slam. Jon Moxley emerged victorious, thus becoming the AEW World Champion for a third time.
