AEW’s William Regal gave a heartfelt response to the news that NXT UK will be shutting down.
After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed on August 18th that NXT UK will be shutting down to make way for the new NXT Europe. NXT UK’s swan song will take place on September 4th at a huge show called Worlds Collide, which will be held in conjunction with NXT 2.0. This show was teased on the latest episode of NXT 2.0 when Vic Joseph said the phrase “worlds collide” after multiple NXT UK stars showed up during NXT Heatwave.
One man who was integral to the creation of NXT UK was former on-screen NXT General Manager William Regal, who served behind the scenes as WWE Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting, scouting talent from all across the world.
Though he now works for AEW as the leader of the Blackpool Combat Club, William Regal took to social media to express his gratitude for the time he spent with NXT UK talent, both at shows and during training sessions.
“Thank you for the incredible memories @NXTUK. It was a pleasure to be a part of every show and training session I worked with you all.x”
