William Regal has been releasing weekly episodes of his Gentleman Villain podcast since June 2nd, 2022. Alongside co-host Matt Koon, Regal has covered many subjects, such as British Wrestling, his time spent with Japanese legend Tajiri, and his role as NXT General Manager.
On a recent episode of Gentleman Villain, however, William Regal heaped praise upon a prominent All Elite Wrestling roster member.
Which AEW Star Does William Regal Think Is “Far Better” Than Him?
While discussing a particular up-and-comer who caught his eye, William Regal noted that he asked a famous wrestler to help teach the youngster a few things.
“I can only be honest, I didn’t really think about it at the time. He was just another wrestler that came into my world, [I was] doing my job. And once he got to the WWE, and got himself over with the list of characters that were there at the time. I thought this lad is smart.
And I won’t mention his name, but there is a certain person at one point that I said that I liked. And I said to Chris, can you teach him all the things that I won’t do? Because I would never do that.
Chris Jericho is a you know, he’s figured this show out. But he’s far better than I’ve ever been, because he’s obviously been, he’s a far bigger star than I’ve ever been, made far more money than I’ve ever made. And he knows how to keep himself in the top position, and I mean, he’s done things that are fantastic.
He left us what was he when he went to Mexico 22 or something? Yeah. And got himself in a big position and got yourself over. And then came to ECW and then got himself to WCW and then went to WWE and went to you know, AEW, and has become a top star for all those years.
He is far better than me at our job, which is being a professional wrestler.”
William Regal and Chris Jericho have had several run-ins during their time in AEW, including a segment where Regal claimed to have done something very unpleasant to Jericho’s toothbrush.
Currently, Chris Jericho is the reigning Ring of Honor champion and is set to defend his title against Claudio Castagnoli at Final Battle on December 10th. William Regal, meanwhile, seems to be on his way out of All Elite Wrestling after an on-screen assault from World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
