A new report has suggested that William Regal’s health issues are much more serious than has ever been reported previously.
William Regal made his shocking AEW debut at Revolution, breaking up a post-match brawl between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson. The British legend strode into the ring, pulled the two men apart before slapping each of them in the face.
On the following episode of Dynamite, Regal accompanied Danielson and Moxley to the ring as they made their debut as a team. After they quickly dispatched The WorkHorsemen, Regal climbed into the ring and was interviewed by Tony Schiavone. Regal praised both Danielson and Moxley, claiming the American Dragon was the wrestler he should have been.
During the interview, a visibly moved Regal also opened up about his previous substance abuse issues, and close friendship with Schiavone. In reference to his health, the former NXT General Manager said that he had abused his body for years and was “not long for this world.”
This naturally led many fans to worry that Regal might be in worse health than has ever been reported previously. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer sadly noted that this appears to be the case. Regal is scheduled to be a guest on an upcoming episode of Talk Is Jericho, where the issues will be discussed.
“Apparently Regal’s health issues at this stage are far more serious than have ever come out and there is an interview that will be released next week that he did for Talk is Jericho that will detail them.”
While the segment was positively received by fans, it was also noted that Regal ran over the time that he was allocated. He later took to social media to apologise, saying that he had spoken to everyone affected.
