It has been announced that NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver will take place over two nights on April 7th and April 8th 2021.
William Regal promised to make two ‘game changing announcements’ on the March 10th episode of NXT and he did just that.
While it had already been reported that NXT’s next TakeOver would take place on Thursday April 8th and that WWE had filed a trademark for NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver we now have official confirmation.
Reacting to the news, Triple H took to Twitter, commenting “We started at Arrival, grew to takeover, and now WWE NXT will stand and deliver over two nights April 7th and April 8th.”
What started at Arrival …
… grew to take over.
And NOW #WWENXT will Stand & Deliver over TWO NIGHTS April 7 and 8th. #WeAreNXT#NXTTakeOverhttps://t.co/BVjAIDtbtk— Triple H (@TripleH) March 11, 2021
WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels also reacted to the news, tweeting that Stand & Deliver is “the TakeOver that cannot be contained! And I know the roster will STAND & DELIVER.”
Further to the TakeOver announcement Regal revealed the creation of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. Furthermore the General Manager awarded the titles to Dusty Cup winners Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.
Ahead of the most recent episode of NXT, former NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm had spoken of her excitement about the potential creation of the titles.
“If that happens, that’s going to change the entire division. I mean, we’ve got more women than we ever have. So it’s going to be entertaining as hell. Like if that’s the case… it might as well just be all women (laughs).
“This (NXT Women’s Tag Titles) is going to raise the stakes and make competition even higher, if this is what’s happening. I get nervous when William Regal is going to announce something because you just know it’s going to be good.”
Elsewhere on NXT, Toni Storm faced Io Shirai for her NXT Women’s Championship, but came up short in a typically hard-hitting contest.
