Will Ospreay Teases CM Punk Challenge

NJPW star Will Ospreay has teased challenging new AEW World Champion CM Punk at the upcoming AEW and NJPW supershow, Forbidden Door.

At Double Or Nothing in Las Vegas, CM Punk wrote his name in the history books as he dethroned Hangman Adam Page in the main event to become only the 5th man to capture the AEW World Championship.

But Punk already has one eye on the future as he gets set to return to his home city of Chicago as AEW Champion for the first time ever when AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door takes place in the United Center. Speaking at the post-Double Or Nothing media scrum, Punk says he’s excited about his homecoming:

“Everybody always talks about locker room leaders and all this corny sh*t. I don’t necessarily think they exist except certain people lead by example. And to me that’s what leading is. So I’ll lead the company into Chicago and I’ll learn from all my past mistakes and do the best I possibly can to show everybody in the locker room, not necessarily the one right way to do things but how to operate and how to conduct yourself as a champion.”

“But I’m very excited to go back to Chicago. On top of doing AEW every week, I’ve been filming two television shows, so I kinda haven’t been home in a very, very long time and I’m hoping my schedule clears up a little bit so I get to actually spend a week or two at home before the pay-per-view but we’ll see.”

Someone else with one eye on CM Punk and Chicago is New Japan star and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Will Ospreay. Ospreay has taken to social media to tease a challenge heading Punk’s direction as he quoted some of Punk’s theme song’s lyrics:

“When a leader speaks, that leader dies”
