Will Ospreay is looking ahead to future plans after AEW Dynasty.
On April 21st, The Ariel Assassin will face one of his greatest challenges as he will compete against Bryan Danielson for the very first time. With both men having a reputation for exceptional in-ring abilities and seemingly incapable of having a below-average match, many expect this to be one of the best matches of 2024 when all is said and done. However, while Ospreay is aware of the challenge he is facing, he knows it is an obstacle he can overcome.
Speaking with Uproxx about the upcoming encounter, Ospreay believes that he is able to match and surpass Danielson’s abilities:
“The respect I have for Bryan Danielson, I don’t have the vocabulary to be able to tell you how meaningful this match is to me. But it doesn’t mean that I’m starstruck by Bryan Danielson. I do see him as somebody that is reachable. I can take anything that Bryan Danielson has ever done, whether it’s in Ring of Honor or the other company, and do it better,”
“You want this next generation to kick your ass, and here I am. I’m ready to take the reins from you. You’ve been the greatest wrestler of all time for god knows how long. But like you said, you’re coming to the end of your full-time career. I’m here to take the throne from you now, mate.”
With victories over Chris Jericho, Orange Cassidy and Kenny Omega in AEW, the British star believes that his victory over Danielson should put him in line for a shot at the World Championship very soon:
“How many more of these matches, how many more names, if you want to put a number on it, do it?” Ospreay says. “But I think that, all those names that I’ve mentioned, you’ve got two world champions there and one half of the greatest tag team that’s ever done it.
The longest reigning AEW international champion, one of the best wrestlers to ever come from Japan, one of the future up-and-coming wrestlers, and after I beat Bryan Danielson, that is the greatest wrestler in the world. Is there any more of a point that needs proving? I don’t really think so.”
Will Ospreay Opens Up About Living With Learning Difficulties
Ospreay’s success story is even more impressive considering that he has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD and dyslexia. During a recent interview, The Ariel Assassin admitted that he needed someone to read his AEW contract to him as a result of his dyslexia. Proud of what he has accomplished, Will Ospreay is looking to inspire those who also have difficulties and is proud to be autistic.
Victorious at AEW Dynasty, Will Ospreay issued an apology after the match.
