Will Ospreay Says He’s “Done” With AEW For The Foreseeable Future

By Sondra Ruth. Published 2nd September 2022.

After a contentious stint in AEW, Will Ospreay says he’s “done” with the company for the foreseeable future.

Will Ospreay made his AEW debut on the June 8th episode of Dynamite, joining his United Empire teammates who’d made a shock appearance the week prior. After teaming with Aussie Open on Rampage and facing Dax Harwood in singles action on Dynamite, Ospreay set his sights on Forbidden Door, where he defeated Orange Cassidy in a match that was widely praised.

It’s no secret that Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega have been at odds with one another for years, with Ospreay accusing Omega of keeping him from an AEW appearance in 2021 and Omega calling Ospreay “forgettable.” Now that Kenny Omega has made his return to AEW following a lengthy absence to rehabilitate multiple injuries, the two have come face to face on a number of occasions, usually after Dynamite has gone off the air.

In the main event of the August 31st episode of Dynamite, Will Ospreay once again teamed with Aussie Open to take on Omega and the Young Bucks in a semifinal match in the tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Trios World Champions. After frenetic action that saw men on both sides kick out of devastating offense, Kenny Omega scored the pinfall victory for his team after a One Winged Angel.

Ospreay and Omega once again came to blows after the show went off the air, and it seems that will be the last of their confrontations for the foreseeable future as Ospreay revealed on social media that his time in this current run with AEW is through.

“For the foreseeable future my time with @AEW is done thanks to @TonyKhan for having your own mind and not listening to @KennyOmegamanX attempts at blocking me from coming to do a few matches for ya.

“We are even for now Ken, keep your mouth shut & we won’t have any issues.”

As for Kenny Omega, he and the Young Bucks will be in the finals of the AEW Trios World Championship at All Out on September 4th.
