While the world clammours for another match between Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega, the British star has urged caution to those expecting a quick jump back into their feud.
Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega went to war at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in what has been widely praised as one of the greatest matches of the modern era. For just shy of 40 minutes the pair threw everything at each other in their desperate attempts to prove they were the better man. The in-ring action has been praised for mixing modern-day feats of athleticism with an old-school intensity, showcasing their hard-fought rivalry.
In the end, it was Ospreay who grabbed the win, regaining the IWGP United States Title he lost back at Wrestle Kingdom 17. With the score between them now tied at 1-1, many believe a third match could be on the way at All In, with the event set to take place at Wembley Stadium — just down the road from Ospreay’s home in the UK.
However, whether he’s trying to throw fans off the scent, or is legitimately looking elsewhere for a challenge, Ospreay told Dark Puroresu Flowsion that he wants to let their previous two matches marinate for now.
“At the time I’d very much like if we put this to bed as it is tied 1-1 now. Now everything has kinda settled I’d almost like to direct my attention to new challenges & allow those 2 matches to just marinate for now”
Kenny Omega Addresses Will Ospreay On AEW Dynamite
Ospreay’s comments come after Kenny Omega sent a message to his rival on the June 28th episode of AEW Dynamite. Omega said that while he may have been beaten by the better man on the night, the issues between them are far from settled.
