California native Will Hobbs has signed with AEW, the company has announced today.
Having debuted on the company’s YouTube show AEW Dark back in July this year, Hobbs had been primarily used as an enhancement talent in showcase matches against the likes of Orange Cassidy, Scorpio Sky and Shawn Spears, among several others.
Appearing on the company’s flagship show Dynamite on TNT in mid-August, Hobbs’ stock would continue to rise in a thrilling losing effort to Darby Allin which was well received by fans.
Having also impressed All Elite Wrestling management, Hobbs made an appearance as a surprise entrant in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out on September 5. Much like in his match with Allin, Hobbs was afforded ample opportunity to shine and attracted further positive reviews online and on social media.
‘The Embodiment of Willpower’ then went on to collect back to back wins on subsequent episodes of Dark, prior to All Elite Wrestling officially announcing his full signing earlier today.
Hobbs begins life as a fully contracted performer with an AEW record of 2-7 and has already caught the eye of legendary announcer Jim Ross, who tweeted his support in relation to Will Hobbs’ signing:
High hopes for this big man.
