Will Hobbs Joins Team Taz In Shock Heel Turn

Will Hobbs joined Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in the dastardly Team Taz faction, turning heel in the process, after the main event of AEW Dynamite.

The turn came after a surprisingly dominant showing from Cage and Starks against Cody Rhodes and TNT Champion Darby Allin in the show’s main event. Despite Allin regaining control of the contest in its closing moments, Cage managed to incapacitate his opponent long enough to hit an Avalanche Drill Claw to pick up a pinfall victory.

In the aftermath, Cage and Starks began attacking their opponents again at the behest of Taz before Will Hobbs appeared with a steel chair to clear them from the ring. Hobbs picked up Cage’s FTW Championship and seemed to taunt the self-anointed champion before striking Cody in the face with it, aligning himself with Cage and Starks.

The show ended with all 3 Team Taz members standing over Rhodes whilst Taz berated him for disrespecting the FTW Championship and Team Taz.

Will Hobbs debuted in AEW on the July 7th episode of Dark and eventually got a spot in the Casino Battle Royal at All Out, his impressive performance in which earned him an AEW contract. He then made his Dynamite in-ring debut on October 7th when he unsuccessfully challenged Brian Cage for the FTW Championship and Taz has been attempting to recruit Hobbs to his cause ever since, cutting weekly promos that his offer to Hobbs still stood.

Elsewhere on Dynamite, Serena Deeb successfully retained the NWA Women’s World Championship; Jon Moxley was attacked backstage during his contract signing with Kenny Omega and the Death Triangle trio was reformed!
