Steve Austin has admitted that he is somewhat hesitant about WWE’s latest project.
Among the many announcements that took place over WrestleMania weekend, the one that divided fans the most was for the upcoming Netflix series WWE: Unreal. Presented as pro wrestling’s version of the hit F1 show Drive To Survive, the upcoming docuseries will give fans a never-before-seen look at the inner workings of the company, including the writers’ room.
Although fans are very aware that pro wrestling is pre-determined and kayfabe is more relaxed than ever before, some fans believe that the show will be one step too far and that some things should remain a secret.
Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Austin admitted that much like a magic show, he doesn’t want to know how the trick was performed:
“Man, that’s where I’m still a little bit old school on that. I’m a big magic fan, but if Harry Houdini is still around, I don’t want him to tell me how he does it. I want to figure out how he does it, and if I can’t, then I’m gonna keep wondering and I’m gonna keep watching and keep wondering, see if I can figure it out myself. I know it’s not magic, it’s an illusion, but let me keep wondering about that illusion.”
Steve Austin Confirms Rejected Pitch Was True
Playing a smaller part in the show than fans expected, Austin appeared on Mania Sunday to announce the attendance for night 2 and for the whole weekend. In the days that followed, Logan Paul revealed a pitch that was made to Steve Austin to have him be a bigger part of the show, which was rejected by the Hall of Famer. During the same interview, Steve Austin explained why he turned down Logan Paul’s offer.
Also in the interview, Steve Austin gave his endorsement to a star on the rise.
