Roman Reigns is refusing to comment on a huge WWE match.
Ever since Reigns declared that he was The Tribal Chief in 2020, fans anticipated that a dream match between Reigns and The Rock would take place at a future WrestleMania. Although the match was originally set for WrestleMania 40, the fan backlash over the decision to remove Cody Rhodes from the match became too big to ignore and forced the company to pivot.
Although Rock and Reigns were tag partners in the main event of WrestleMania 40, The Final Boss was seen staring down both The OTC and Cody Rhodes at the End of Bad Blood potentially setting up a future match with the current or former champion.
While it remained unknown who Rock would face at Mania or if he would be factored into the show at all, the Hollywood star’s appearance on the Raw on Netflix premiere seemed to provide a surprising perspective. Appearing as a babyface, complimenting both Rhodes and Reigns, Rock showed no references to his villainous Final Boss persona and acknowledged Reigns’s victory over Sikoa later that night by presenting The OTC with the Ula Fala.
With both sides on the same page once more, it appears that fans may have to wait another year at the earliest for the long-awaited Rock vs. Reigns showdown. With uncertainty continuing to surround the match, Reigns was once again asked at the Raw post-show press conference if he still wanted a match against The Rock. Responding to the question, Reigns stated that if he gave an answer the internet buzz would die down so chose to not comment on the subject:
“I don’t have to do anything. You guys do it for us. We’re just going to let the Internet do its thing. That would defeat the whole purpose of this. The Internet won’t do its thing if I said yes or no. So, we’ll see.”
Who Will Roman Reigns Face At WrestleMania 41?
With Reigns walking into WrestleMania 41 no longer the Undisputed Champion, his direction for the biggest show of the year looks more uncertain compared to the past 4 years. With a rematch against Cody Rhodes also looking unlikely, Roman Reigns could be matched against a surprising opponent for WrestleMania.
H/t to Fightful.
