Natalya has elaborated on her decision to remain with WWE as opposed to exploring free agency.
Although Natalya has been used more sparingly on TV in recent months having only competed in 3 matches on main roster TV and PLEs since November, the former Women’s Champion has already been announced for two non-WWE shows.
Along with making her GCW debut for Bloodsport over WrestleMania weekend, the Raw star is also set to be in action at the NWA Crockett Cup in May.
While appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Natalya first stated that the reason for the GCW and NWA events is that she is looking to bet on herself and take a chance. When Helwani asked the WWE star why she did not choose to explore other opportunities as a free agent, the former Women’s Champion responded that she has a lot of faith in Triple H and the company:
Because I have a lot of faith in Triple H. I have a lot of faith in his abilities to tell stories and I’ve seen, just in the last year for example, the entire company is hotter than it’s ever been. Ever. We’re hotter than the Attitude Era right now. Madison Square Garden was just like — we were in the locker room and the floor was vibrating in the locker room. Every show is big. It’s not just WrestleMania, it’s not just Royal Rumble. Every single show we’re doing is sold out, every single show is big and a lot of that has to do with the direction and how we’re telling stories.
So, prior to this, sometimes I would be just — and this isn’t a dig at anyone by any means but I’d be thrown into a storyline that would just last a week, or just thrown into a match or just throw into this or just throw into that and I think I was always — and I still am a good sport and a good team player.
I always wanna kind of do the right thing… I don’t like to make demands and throw my weight around, be difficult backstage so sometimes I would find myself in certain storylines and things that I knew that they weren’t going anywhere whereas I feel like now, the difference is Triple H really has a vision and it takes time to get there and you see that vision and I see so many incredible changes with people like Nia Jax, with Liv Morgan, with Chad Gable. Those are three people that I feel Triple H has really changed their whole trajectory…
Natalya To Tell Her Story Later In The Year
One of the most tenured athletes in company history, Natalya had her first match back in 2007 and has lived through the highs and lows of the women’s division. Also in the interview, Natalya revealed that her tell-all autobiography would be released later in the year.
