Wrestling veteran Marc Mero opened up on why Mick Foley apologized to him.

While Foley is a legendary name in the professional wrestling industry, Mero transitioned into a career in motivational speaking after his wrestling days. Foley self-admittedly was jealous of Mero for his early WWE contract, as the latter had signed for more money.

Mick Foley wrote about Marc Mero in his book, Have A Nice Day, acknowledging his past criticisms of the now-motivational speaker. He expressed respect and friendship in it, highlighting Mero’s positive impact, be it in Foley’s later life or his WWE contract in the ’90s, which helped pave the way for others.

On Wrestling Life with Ben Veal, Mero reflected on what Foley said about him. He revealed that he even got a personal letter from the Hardcore legend.

Mick [Foley] is such an extraordinary person. He does so much for charity. He loves what I do. But before we met in person at the hotel in person for the first time in all those years, he actually wrote me a beautiful letter. And it was a letter expressing forgiveness for what he wrote about me. But he was so kind, and when I read that, I wish he was there because I wanted to give him a big hug,” Mero said.

He further noted that they never looked back and let bygones be bygones. Mero has since openly expressed his love and admiration for Foley.

Mero retired from professional wrestling in 2006. Although both he and Foley were in the Stamford-based company together in the ’90s and the latter technically retired in 2000, the Hardcore legend continued to wrestle sporadically. He even signed with TNA in the aughts. Foley’s last in-ring appearance was at the WWE Royal Rumble in 2012.
