Why Kevin Owens Never Wants To Win This WWE Championship Again

Kevin Owens does not want to win a certain WWE Championship ever again.

Following on from his triumph in the main event of WrestleMania 39 alongside Sami Zayn, Owens joined the elite club of Grand Slam Champions in WWE having previously won the Universal, United States and Intercontinental Championships. Although Owens is hopeful that he will win more titles before his career comes to a close, he hopes it is not with the Intercontinental Championship.

While appearing at an auction for Fanatics on UpUpDownDown, Owens signed a white Intercontinental Championship, a replica of the one that he held twice previously. While discussing the history of the championship, Owens revealed the interesting fact that he has held the title for the same amount of days as Owen Hart:

“This is the main event, it’s the replica championship of the Intercontinental Title I held for the exact same amount of days as Owen Hart. We both had two title runs, they total the exact same amount of days. So I technically don’t ever wanna win this again because I like that.”

Both Owens and Hart each held the title for 132 days across 2 separate reigns. Both of Hart’s reigns took place in 1997 and lost the title both times to Steve Austin, which included the SummerSlam match that sidelined Austin with a neck injury. Owens won the title twice in 2015 and 2016, losing the title to Dean Ambrose at TLC 2015 and Zack Ryder in a multi-man ladder match at WrestleMania 32.

Who Is Kevin Owens Facing At WrestleMania 40?

One year on from his victory inside SoFi Stadium, Owens will be looking to do the same in Philadelphia as once again he challenges for a WWE Championship. Following on from Owens and Randy Orton’s sustained dislike of Logan Paul, The Prizefighter and The Viper will both challenge the United States Champion for the title at WrestleMania 40.

Now a member of the SmackDown roster, Kevin Owens recently reflected on the “bittersweet” switch.

In a separate interview, Kevin Owens named a dream opponent for a future WrestleMania.
