A WWE legend thinks that Goldberg defeating Gunther is a possibility.
Kicking off at Bad Blood last year, Goldberg and Gunther finally came face-to-face this week, setting up the Hall of Famer’s last match.
This was a topic of discussion on the Kliq This podcast. Kevin Nash said that he is invested in the story because, according to him, the Hall of Famer could win as his spear could end the match in the blink of an eye.
He implied that this threat can play heavily into the bout, with the Ring General being aware that if he gave his opponent the chance to hit a spear, it was over for him. Nash said:
“I’m really intrigued with Gunther and Bill [Goldberg], you know, because they can tell a great story, because no matter how you look at it, if Goldberg can f**king spear Gunther, he loses.”
“Yeah, but it’s that, but so you know, going into it, if I make a mistake of that magnitude and Goldberg hits me with a spear, I’m done.”
When asked by his co-host if this myth still stood true, especially with the younger generation of fans, Nash replied that all WWE would have to do is show a package of the former WCW Champion beating Lesnar, drawing an analogy of his spear being as destructive as the atom bombs. He said:
“They haven’t watched people kick out of Goldberg. All you got to do, I mean, how hard is it to show a package of him f*king beating Lesnar? I mean, all you have to do is put a package of what this guy can do.”
“I mean, I don’t think I think that that Bill and his reputation for a quick match, I mean, I don’t think that you have to drop anything more than what we did on Nagasaki or Hiroshima to understand that f*king he has that capability. All you have to do is show a clip of the only people that have used nuclear weapons on this planet, and I think that you can probably get that across.”
What Kevin Nash Expects From Goldberg’s Last Match Against Gunther
When asked if the match might flop, Nash disagreed, stating that the Hall of Famer would go all guns blazing in his last match.
Nash added that to win, the Hall of Famer must be himself. He suggested that the WWE could play out this match in a Japanese style, pointing out the fact that Gunther showed signs of timidity during the faceoff, indicating that he knows that WCW Icon could beat him. Nash said:
“Be Goldberg. If they work this with Japanese psychology where every time like there’s they do a couple of spots and Bill’s ready to spear him and Gunther grabs the ropes and rolls out because I don’t know how many people caught this during the Raw but Gunther for the first time chicken sh*t heeled sold Goldberg and backed away from him And I don’t know how many people caught that but I did.”
“Like Gunther f*king showed like he didn’t get up in his face. He didn’t tell him I’m gonna put you through pain. He said you’re fking next, and he and Gunther got the f**k out of there. So they’ve that step one is already set up storyline wise, Gunther knows this guy can take his belt.”

While remote, this could be a very real possibility to let the former Heavyweight Champion go out with a win.
With “Da Man” issuing a warning to his opponent and Gunther firing back last night, fans can expect a hard-hitting clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th.
