Drew McIntyre is back in WWE but was set to be absent until later in the year.
Capping off a very newsworthy episode of Raw on December 2nd, the former WWE Champion made his return and attacked Sami Zayn after Zayn lost to Seth Rollins in the main event. Although McIntyre has been away from TV for approximately 2 months, his hiatus was set to be even longer.
As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, McIntyre’s return was not expected to take place so soon. However, due to Bronson Reed suffering a major injury at Survivor Series, the belief backstage was that McIntyre was brought back a few weeks earlier due to Reed’s absence.
PWInsider also speculated that as McIntyre has been advertised for the upcoming Holiday house shows, his return date may have been originally set for the debut episode of Raw on Netflix in January 2025.
McIntyre last competed at Bad Blood, losing to CM Punk in a brilliant but brutal Hell in a Cell match. McIntyre required 16 staples in his head after the match as he was busted open hard way during the bout.
Drew McIntyre Addresses Raw Return
Appearing in the closing moments of the show, McIntyre has yet to officially address the fans and explain why he chose to attack Zayn at the end of the show. However, in a brief follow-up video, Drew McIntyre gave the fans a brief taste of what to expect moving forward.
Although McIntyre has now returned from injury, another WWE star has been unfortunately sidelined following their match at Survivor Series.
