The Rock has broken character to show respect to one of his WrestleMania rivals.
WrestleMania 40 saw the Hollywood star compete in his first major match in over 10 years as he teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in the main event of night 1. As a result of the victory, Rhodes was forced to challenge Reigns for the Undisputed Championship on night 2 under Bloodline Rules.
Although this was Reigns and Rhodes’ second match of the weekend, Rollins also made a cameo appearance in Shield gear before being dispatched by Reigns. This was also following on from his match earlier in the night where The Visionary lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Drew McIntyre.
Although The People’s Champion expressed his displeasure towards Rhodes and Rollins on weekly TV, Rock would take some time in his latest Instagram video to acknowledge Rhodes’ historic victory and Rollins for being “the real MVP” over Mania weekend:
Congratulations to Cody Rhodes, congratulations to my cousin Roman Reigns on an incredible three-in-a-half-year run, maybe even four years, just incredible, iconic, and historic. I’m very proud of you, uso. Also congratulations to the real MVP of the entire WrestleMania weekend, Seth Rollins. What an honor it was to share the ring with you three. What an honor it was for us to break records. And now my sights are set on the next WrestleMania. But that’s down the road.
The Rock also detailed his training heading into the match and how he feels now that it is all said and done. The Final Boss stated that he went through an “intense but fantastic” training camp that lasted 12 weeks to work on his technique, timing, agility and more. In regards to any injuries, the former World Champion admitted that he is “banged up pretty good, but no injuries.”
In the latest news regarding Seth Rollins, the WWE star has signed a new deal.
