The Demon Finn Balor was undone when the top rope snapped at Extreme Rules and now new footage has shed light on what happened.
In the main event of Extreme Rules, Finn Balor received another shot at the WWE Universal Championship after originally having the referee stop his match with Roman Reigns at the beginning of September.
However, Balor rang the changes for his match on pay-per-view as he left Finn Balor the man behind and channeled The Demon for the first time since 2019 to take on Reigns.
The Demon Finn Balor looked to be in control of the match heading to the top rope as he attempted a Coup De Grace. However, before The Demon could land on his target, the top rope inexplicably broke sending Balor crashing to the mat. A spear from Roman Reigns soon followed and The Tribal Chief retained his championship.
Now new footage has emerged on social media that appears to show a camera operator for the company cutting the rope that potentially cost Balor the match.

Roman Reigns retaining his WWE Universal Title means that he will face The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar when the company returns to Saudi Arabia later in October for Crown Jewel.
Elsewhere at Extreme Rules, Becky Lynch retained her SmackDown Women’s Title after her match with Bianca Belair was declared a no contest. It was a good night for champions as Charlotte Flair retained the RAW Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss and Damian Priest held on to his US Title against Jeff Hardy and Sheamus.
The New Day reunited as a trio and defeated former WWE Champion and former RAW Tag Team Champions Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, and Omos in a six-man tag team match. It was a fine night for The Bloodline as well as The Usos held onto the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits.
