When Will Gunther Return To WWE TV?

An update on Gunther has been provided following the former World Heavyweight Champion’s storyline suspension.

After losing the World Title to Jey Uso at WrestleMania, an irate Gunther confronted Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on the next episode of Raw. After initially attacking Michael Cole, The Ring General turned his attention to Pat McAfee when McAfee came to the aid of his broadcast partner.

Following Gunther’s actions, it was later announced by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce that the former World Heavyweight Champion was suspended indefinitely. On the April 28th episode of Raw, McAfee cut a passionate promo on the announce table and demanded that the suspension be lifted, prompting guest GM Nick Aldis to book a match between McAfee and Gunther for Backlash on May 10th.

In an update by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, The Ring General is not expected back until the Premium Live Event itself, meaning that he won’t be a part of the go-home episode of Raw.

Pat McAfee Looks To Recruit Hall Of Famer To Help Prepare For Gunther Match

Given that The Ring General is often booked as one of the most dominant stars in the company and McAfee is not a wrestler, the former World Heavyweight Champion is the heavy favourite heading into the match and many are expecting the announcer to get squashed at Backlash. In preparation for his match, Pat McAfee sent an open invitation to a WWE Hall of Famer to help him prepare for the match.
