“When I Hear Pro Wrestler I Think Randy Orton, Not Kenny Omega” – WWE Hall Of Famer

Randy Orton Kenny Omega

Throughout their decades in the business of professional wrestling, both Randy Orton and Kenny Omega have carved their names as two of the top performers in the world.

They took drastically different paths to superstardom, with Orton having been in the WWE system for more than 20 years while Omega worked around the world in numerous promotions including New Japan, ROH, and various independent companies.

Speaking on the latest episode of Busted Open, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray had praise for both men, but says that Orton is more the epitome of a professional wrestler in his opinion.

“When I hear the word pro wrestler, I think of Randy Orton, not Kenny Omega. Kenny Omega is definitely the best of something in the world, I just don’t know if the right word is pro wrestler.”

Bully Ray went on to explain that he sees Omega as far more than just a “spot guy,” something he’s been accused of in the past. However, he would like to see Omega in matches with more focus on psychology than flashy offense, and thinks either Orton or John Cena would make great opponents for the Winnipeg native.

“I would love to see Kenny Omega versus a Randy Orton, a Kenny Omega versus a John Cena. Guys that understand real psychology.”

Omega’s latest bout came on the March 22nd episode of AEW Dynamite, where he faced El Hijo del Vikingo in was was being termed a “dream match.”

Randy Orton Is Currently Injured

Randy Orton hasn’t been seen on WWE television since he and RK-Bro partner Matt Riddle lost their Raw Tag Team Championship to The Usos back in May.

After the match, Orton and Riddle were beaten down by The Bloodline and the former World Champion disappeared from television afterward. Details around Orton’s absence remained thin on the ground but it was reported that he was struggling with a back injury that had been progressively worse.

In November, it was reported that The Viper had undergone fusion surgery on his lower back which would leave him unable to return to the ring for an “extended period”. His father, Bob Orton, later provided an update saying his son was “coming along.”

A recent report states that Orton will be in Los Angeles for WrestleMania weekend, but there’s no word on whether or not he’ll appear on camera as part of either WrestleMania or Monday Night Raw the next night.
