Wheeler Yuta Expected To Miss AEW Double Or Nothing

Wheeler Yuta

Current Ring Of Honor Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta is expected to miss AEW’s annual May pay-per-view Double Or Nothing due to other commitments.

Wheeler Yuta captured the ROH Pure Championship at Supercard Of Honor XV back in early April when he defeated Josh Woods for the gold. Since then Yuta’s career has gone from strength to strength as he has been accepted into the Blackpool Combat Club by Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and William Regal.

However, it is this success that may see Wheeler Yuta miss AEW’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view. The event will emanate from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, May 29th. Yuta’s dance card is full for that date however after he was announced as part of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Best Of The Super Juniors 29 tournament.

With NJPW back to taking international talent following the pandemic, Wheeler Yuta will join Master Wato, Robbie Eagles, Titan, Bushi, El Desperado, Douki, El Lindaman, TJ Perkins, and El Phantasmo in the ‘B’ block of the round-robin competition.

The NJPW website has published the schedule for the tournament, showing that on May 29th Wheeler Yuta will be competing against El Phantasmo. Yuta’s full schedule for BOSJ tournament matches is:

  • May 17th – Robbie Eagles
  • May 19th – Douki
  • May 22nd – El Desperado
  • May 24th – BUSHI
  • May 25th – Titan
  • May 26th – El Lindaman
  • May 28th – Master Wato
  • May 29th – El Phantasmo
  • May 31th – TJP

The final of Best Of Super Juniors 29 will take place on June 3rd in the famed Budokan Hall.

AEW Double Or Nothing will see the finals of the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments take place. The AEW World Championship will also be on the line as Hangman Adam Page defends his title against CM Punk.
