What the story behind TikTok’s latest viral sensation the Micro Wrestling Federation?
In recent weeks and months the Micro Wrestling Federation has been catching the attention of both wrestling and non-wrestling fans on social media.
A clip posted to TikTok by the company in February running down their roster went viral with thousands of fans responding, rating the stars and ranking their favourites. Chief Little Foot was the run away winner, in case you were wondering.
That video has since amassed a staggering 6.2 million views through stitches and duets.
The company have now racked up more than 250,000 followers and more than 30 million views. Clips of their shows and promos regularly attract 350,000 views. For context, that puts them comfortably in the same ballpark as WWE’s TikTok account. While ITR favourite Ivar The Micro scored seven million views in 2021.
So what exactly is the Micro Wrestling Federation?
The Micro Wrestling Federation launched back in 2000, making it the longest-running organisation in the Little Person wrestling industry. The promotion’s website boasts that the company hosts a “WWE type event” featuring stars that are all under five feet-tall.
The promotion hosts more than 200 shows per year all across the United States, while they hold four shows per-week in their home 300 seat mini arena in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Away from the popularity of the MWF, Major League Wrestling recently signed the world’s smallest wrestler, Microman. The 23-year-old Mexican star stands at three feet, two inches tall and had been a regular with CMLL for some time.
