What Happened Between Nick Khan And R-Truth Before WWE Return Revealed

R-Truth attacks John Cena, WWE President Nick Khan

R-Truth is back in WWE as Ron Killings, and the real story behind the shocking situation continues to emerge. Sources have revealed exactly how Nick Khan played a significant role in the matter.

Money In the Bank 2025 saw Ron Killings return to deck John Cena with a belt shot, helping Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes defeat the Undisputed WWE Champion and Logan Paul. The shocking return came just six days after the company ended Truth’s 17-year tenure, which led to immense support from around the wrestling world, with countless fans and wrestlers speaking out against the decision.

Triple H has since claimed that the departure was all a part of the storyline that peaked during the Money In the Bank main event, which Killings’ son publicly disagreed with.

Nick Khan Brought R-Truth Back to WWE

The official story surrounding Truth’s WWE status is being disputed by sources. Fightful Select reports that Nick Khan took control of the situation and personally called Killings to work out a new contract ahead of Money In the Bank.

Truth was contacted by the company’s President after others internally tried reaching out in the days prior. The 53-year-old reportedly ignored many of WWE’s approaches during the week, and that led to Khan taking the lead in what was described as a “meeting half-way” situation.

Truth’s dismissal was described by one talent as a “very cold and impersonal way,” adding that an employee from Talent Relations actually informed the 28-year industry veteran of the decision to not renew his contract, instead of “top brass” at WWE HQ.

Several indie promoters and other reps reached out to Truth this past week, in hopes of booking him. Talents within WWE, and those close to Truth, continued to insist the departure was not a work, and that there were “many tears” over the situation.

Truth was described as being just as “shocked and disgusted” as the rest of the wrestling world, and was reportedly flooded with phone calls and text messages.
